Homeschool History for Newbies and Seasoned Veterans Alike!

Not everyone is aware of homeschool history or that 25 years ago homeschool was almost unheard of and illegal! A striking statistic considering that over a million kids are homeschooled, LEGALLY, today.

The HSLDA website has a very important paper which both illustrates how hard we had to fight to get where we are today, and reminds us that the only way to educational freedom is through due diligence. The paper is titled The Politics of Survival : Home Schoolers and the Law and I encourage all homeschoolers to read and understand how fragile our freedoms can be. Yes, we have gained our rights to homeschool, but nothing is forever, especially when political climates change and politicians see themselves as more than just mere men.

It is only through continued activism that homeschool will remain what it is today - THE great equalizer in the big scheme of government mandated educational institutions.

We cannot afford to forget our homeschool history, or history will be forced to repeat itself.
