Add a Homeschool Music Program and Reap the Rewards!
We've never used a homeschool music curriculum because both Suzy Q and Little Moe took private or group guitar lessons. Back when Suzy Q was in public elementary school she took violin as well.
Personally I feel that in person instruction is probably best - but there is an exception to everything.
If you just live too far away from someone to come to your house or there is no real money in the budget for lessons, then by all means check out these curriculums below.
Music Ace Deluxe looks like a program I'd buy to learn music theory.
It is a comprehensive series of music lessons and games that teach beginning music students of all ages the basics of:
- Music theory
- Rhythm
- Pitch
- Note reading
- Listening, and
- Keyboard
No previous musical experience or instrument is required.
Making Music Fun is a free website that offers non-instrumental instruction about:
- Composers
- The orchestra, and
- Theory
There are also several learn to play type series for various instruments like guitar and piano.
One resource that you should NEVER underestimate is YouTube. I can't tell you how many free guitar lessons we've used from there. Of course you won't find an easy to follow scope and sequence, but that is the price you pay for free.
