Homeschool Science Becomes More Important As the Kids Approach Upper ElementaryThere are several very good homeschool science curriculums available to choose from. Keep in mind that if you are secular and do not wish to modify, your choices are severely reduced. But on the plus side I will say this, the Christian science curriculums that make it to the Grand Champion page are SOLID. No, you might not like some of the OPINIONS expressed in them, but their SCIENCE is GOOD. Who am I to judge you might ask...well I am a trained scientist and I have used the ALL the Grand Champion picks. So I do not take the subject of homeschool science lightly. I have extremely high expectations about the facts and I want my readers to be able to distinguish them from the opinions. Only the Grand Champions make this cut. And for the record, secular homeschool science presents opinions as facts just as much as Christian science does, so beware. If you want your child to parrot "mainstream" ideas then use a public school curriculum, but if you want your child to THINK CRITICALLY about scientific concepts - then pay attention to what their textbooks tell them to believe. It makes a difference. And just to clarify - Darwin's theory of Evolution is a GREAT theory - but it is only a theory. It is not a scientific FACT. But then neither is Intelligent Design and Creationism...so all things are equal on that front. Also, if you are basing your science choices on these two theories alone please take note - these theories are not interchangeable. What I mean is - you cannot say "I believe in Darwinism, hence ID and Creationism are not possible." That would be called BAD science because Darwinism and ID and Creationism deal with two COMPLETELY separate aspects of science. Evolution is real - every trained scientist accepts this as fact. However, Darwinism and evolution state NOTHING about how the world was created and evolution has nothing at all to do with the creation of life. This is a critical point that the public school isn't allowed to mention - but think about it for a minute...(well first go read Darwin's book, because he states pretty clearly that his theory does not pertain to creation)...but after that look at the facts; Darwinism says stress causes slow gradual change over time. That is evolution. ID states a higher power designed life, and Creationism states that God made everything. So - I hope we are all clear now. In homeschool science you can believe in Evolution and ID at the same time. You can believe in Creationism and Darwinism at the same time. These two competing theories are NOT mutually exclusive because they do not pertain to the same event. If you would like to know more about my scientific qualifications please feel free to read the About Me page.
