Properly Maintained Homeschool Transcripts are a MUST
![]() Homeschool transcripts should not consist of mom's handwritten notes on a piece of loose leaf. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. That is a no no. And so often I see moms writing in for the "FREE" homeschool transcript forms and I have to shake my head a little. You see, I used to work for a very big vocational school as an admissions representative (don't ask it was one of the worst well paying jobs I ever had.) Colleges are NOT impressed with your "FREE" form from the internet, heck - colleges aren't even that impressed with the Russian speaking, Spelling Bee Winner 4 times over, so do you really think they will not laugh at a poor attempt at a high school transcript? They have seen tens of thousands of transcripts, do you really think they won't notice that YOUR child's came off the home printer? I mean, if your Big Moe is a genius, maybe they will let it slide, but to be honest, I doubt it. Your child's transcript will follow them for decades! DECADES people!. That means it is important. And your child might be OK with your transcript at first, but I guarantee that in 20 years they will cringe. You gotta do this one right. Seriously. There is a program called Transcript Pro.
THEN, buy yourself an embosser with your homeschool name on it. THEN, buy some security watermarked paper so no one thinks your kid just went and printed off his "OWN" version of the transcript. Then put it all together and print it out. Voila. You have a professional looking transcript that 50 year old Moe won't hang his head in shame from. A work of art. And worth EVERY penny. I swear, as an admissions rep, I was TOLD to look for stuff like this from the homeschoolers.
