How To Deal When Homeschooling High School is Not Going Well?

Well, when homeschooling high school starts giving you the jerky eye, then you gotta break it down into baby steps, people. Teens in public schools are not easy to deal with - so why the heck should homeschooling teens be any different?

Little teeny, tiny, homeschool baby steps. Forget one day at a time, we're talking half days now (and it may even get as bad as half hour or half minutes)...but if you say you're REALLY gonna do this - don't give up!

Just think one half day at a time, one half hour at a time, one half minute at a time...the ever popular "Dear God above I swear I will NEVER say those words again if you will just get me through this ******** day..." at a time. (Even if you don't believe in God, you cannot tell me with a straight face that you don't plead for mercy when life stomps on your face a bit? We all do.)

And yes, homeschooling high school will challenge you in those ways and more but if you:

  1. Prepare yourself
  2. Surround yourself with a good team of curriculum
  3. Find resources on the web that you can pull upon in a moments notice
  4. Realize almost every single success in life is nothing more than stick-to-it-tive-ness...

You can do it. I know you can do it.

There are some awesome high school curriculums out there too, I mean Teaching Textbooks goes up to Calculus people! And high school Literature is SOOOOOOOO much fun. Of course you'll still have that pesky grammar and yes science will get harder but I'm here for you! Just fill out the Contact Us form and send it in. I promise to get back to you within 48 hours.

If haven't convinced you yet that homeschooling high school is not only possible for those with the desire, but can really be the cherry on top after the early years - go look at the education section of Yahoo answers. Nothing but kids cheating on homework.

Do you really want to take all that individualized learning and self pacing away from your child and force them into a rat race that they will never understand because it makes no sense?

Do you REALLY want some stranger evaluating your child's potential after 6 weeks of teaching them?

That alone makes me cringe...

  1. After all your hard work
  2. All the phonics
  3. All the spelling
  4. All the long division

Can you really hand it all over to someone who's never even met your kid, let alone understands their learning style?

Give it a good think, ask me some questions about the best way of successfully homeschooling high school, browse the curriculum, and then come back and tell us what you've decided.

We'll be here for you. Even if you decide to send them off. We'll not judge and we'll not ask why. We'll just remember that you, and only you, know what is best for your child and that just might be high school away from home.

But, you haven't decided yet so let's get going. We can't possibly talk about homeschooling high school without mentioning all the pros and cons, now can we?

  1. What about a homeschool prom?
  2. Homeschool graduation?
  3. HOW the heck will you go about making a homeschool transcript and getting your Little Moe into college?

Well we're just getting warmed up - there is a LOT to know about this homeschool high school stuff but just give 'er a click and we'll mosey along one topic at a time.
