Hooked on Phonics is a Tried and True Method for Teaching your Child to ReadSo the basic difference right off the bat between Hooked on Phonics and eReadingPro is that obviously, HOP is phonics based, while eRedingPro is whole word based. Quite honestly, I think children need both methods to have the best chance of being successful readers. I like HOP because I believe in the phonics approach just as much as I believe in the site words stuff, plus I think HOP is cheaper. :) Not that price would be my primary focus when it comes to a reading program, but I would certainly take it into consideration. I mean, how hard is it to go to the Wal-Mart and buy some sight word flash cards and whip those babies out everyday at the end of your kid's HOP lesson? Am I right? Anyway - here's the scoop on this program. You get all this stuff for $199.00 (Sidebar here: That is darn cheap. My little pieced together hodgepodge made up program cost more than this package):
