Main Classroom Area

Main Classroom Area

We recently moved from a small apartment into a large house with extra space for a classroom! The room is a little odd in shape so I will be added more pictures.

I am just starting out with home schooling preschool with my children, ages 2, 3, and 4.

I have two cabinets for storage with books, craft materials, games, and workbooks, which I think make the room look nicer than stacking everything on a book shelf. I have one small book shelf with a handful of books we are currently reading, that way my children have choices, but are not overwhelmed.

I have an independent study area, a dress-up area with large mirror, a creative play area, a dramatic play area, and the main classroom area with a dry-erase board and bulletin board area. I even had enough space left over to set up for my 6 month old so he could be a part of school time too!

Your calendar should be at the children's eye level. This is very important.

I like it!

I really love the way you used this space. I used to have an extra room that I was going to use like this, but now we have moved into an apartment. (We did the reverse of what you did). I love the baby area and the puppet show place...Thanks for sharing!

dress up / study

Here is the dress-up area in the far corner with a large mirror (a preschooler fav!) and knobs on the wall so they can hang their dress-up clothes. Also I have a table and chair for independent study, was well as my storage cabinets and small bookcase.

dramatic play

Here is my dramatic play area. I have our paint smocks hanging on the wall (which the children like to use as capes!) and since this area opens up to the next room, it is perfect for puppets! (I am still in the process of making theatre curtains for the area)
