Pathway Readers Are a Simple to Use, Yet Effective and Interesting Reading Curriculum For Pre-reading Through 8th Grade.I've used Pathway Readers for years and loved every minute of it.
The simple and direct method saved me time and Little Moe enjoyed the stories in each of the 5 grade levels that we completed.
It covers:
When Little Moe did his testing at the end of 3rd grade his reading and vocabulary were off the charts, I mean several grade levels higher off the charts. Since teaching him to read at age 6, Pathway Readers was the ONLY program we used up until 6th grade when we switched over to novels and literature units. I miss those days of having everything planned out for me at my fingertips. Each level has the texts and the workbooks. The workbooks are great in my opinion, no frills that is for sure. The publishers of this curriculum are Mennonites and so the type face is very plain and the pictures are all pen and ink drawings. Each story teaches a moral or value lesson but it does not preach and there is no Bible. The lessons are usually about learning to see the value of hard work, honesty, and determination...and this world could use a little more of that. The workbook contains a new vocabulary lesson before the story is read and a page for after. The after page, or Thinking About the Story page, asks questions to get the student to recall details of what they just read. Another plus is that this curriculum is reasonably priced even when you factor in all the "frills" that will typically drive up prices elsewhere. A Grand Champion Winner.
