They are catering to the panicked newbie homeschool mom. They rely on your lack of resources, and they want you to feel that you must get those kiddies learning now Now NOW!

You have all the time in the world remember?

How disappointed will your children be if you have to let them take a month off to get your homeschool bearings? Poor darlings won't know what to do with themselves, will they? Why they might even start acting like children, with all that playing outside and what-not.

Forget it! Let them be. Starting to homeschool only comes once! Pretend is it summer vacation. Most states do not have a set time table for when you must school, so if you take a month off now - just make it up in July.
