Homeschool Done the Simple Way!Starting to Homeschool Can Feel Overwhelming But This is Your First Step Towards Academic IndependenceStarting to homeschool?I already know what you're thinking, HELP! I have no idea what I'm doing! I pulled my kids out last week and now I'm lost! Well, hopefully you didn't go ahead and do that, but if you did, too late to go back now! You're going to be fine, so just take a deep breath and pretend like you've got all the time in the world to figure it out - because you DO! Whether or not you pulled them out on an impulse (like ME!) or are planning a year in advance before starting to homeschool, the next few pages are just for you. We will go over
Then when you are done with that - you can go on ahead and decide which method will fit you and your kids and which curriculums you're leaning towards. Please keep in mind that the biggest mistake that new homeschool parents make is buying curriculum too early because you feel like your kids need to be doing something. First of all, those companies that sell the "Box-'o-curriculum" cater to parents who don't know any better when they are first starting to homeschool. They figure they can get you to buy once, but after that you realize that you wasted hundreds of dollars on inappropriate curriculum and will never give them repeat business. They are catering to the panicked newbie homeschool mom. They rely on your lack of resources, and they want you to feel that you must get those kiddies learning now Now NOW! Not true. You have all the time in the world remember? How disappointed will your children be if you have to let them take a month off to get your homeschool bearings? Poor darlings won't know what to do with themselves, will they? Why they might even start acting like children, with all that playing outside and what-not. Forget it! Let them be. Starting to homeschool only comes once! Pretend is it summer vacation. Most states do not have a set time table for when you must school, so if you take a month off now - just make it up in July. Relax. Click the links above or below (they go to the same place) and get your bearings. This down time will pay for itself in the end...
